appoints three members to State Designer Selection Board
March 24, 2011 - Commissioner of Administration Spencer Cronk today
announced the appointment of three members to the State Designer Selection
Board. The appointees are Mark Koegler of St. Paul, Rebecca J. Lewis of
Duluth and Maurice Roers of St. Paul.
Five champions of assistive technology will be
recognized at State Capitol ceremony
March 15, 2011- Five
Minnesota citizens, educators and organizations will be recognized as
champions of removing barriers to independence for people with disabilities
at an April 5 ceremony in the State Capitol Rotunda. Recipients include pioneers in
the field of assistive technology, educators, professionals and consumers
who promote the use of assistive technology.
Dayton Names Spencer Cronk as Commissioner of the Department

Today Governor Mark Dayton
announced the appointment of Spencer Cronk as Commissioner of the Department
of Administration. Mr. Cronk comes to his position with significant
experience in government redesign and organizational development. He
previously served as Executive Director of Organizational Development and
Senior Advisor for the Department of Small Business Services for the City of
New York.
As 'Baby Boom' generation enters retirement,
Minnesota will undergo significant changes
February 8, 2011 - Minnesota is
on the cusp of an historic demographic shift that will have significant
implications for society, the economy and state government, according to a
new report from the State Demographic Center. "With
the Baby Boom Generation now entering retirement, the next two decades will
be unlike any in recorded history," said State Demographer Tom Gillaspy.
Environmental
Quality Board accepting comments, hearing requests for proposed rule
amendment
January 24, 2011 - The Minnesota Environmental Quality Board (EQB)
is accepting written comments and requests for a public hearing through Feb. 23, 2011,
on a proposed amendment to state rules governing the environmental review process.
Without the amendment, hundreds of additional Environmental Assessment Worksheets
(EAWs) would be required each year in Minnesota.
Inspection will examine
condition of State Capitol building cornice
December 6, 2010 - Contractors this week
will begin inspecting the condition of decorative stonework along the
roofline of the State Capitol building. As a safety measure, workers will
install protective covering at building entrances and place barricades along
several adjacent walkways. Pedestrian traffic during the inspection
will be directed by barricades to covered building entrances.
Inventory of State-Owned
Land
November 8, 2010 - In accordance with Minn. Stat. 16B.245, Subd. 2,
the Commissioner of Administration is required to provide an inventory of
all state-owned land, including land with improvements, and to determine the
number of acres owned, by January 15 of each odd-numbered year. Submissions

State increases use of E85 nearly 10-fold in
five years
October 18, 2010 - Minnesota state government agencies have increased their
retail purchases of E85 nearly 10-fold in five years, according to the
Department of Administration. In the first nine months of 2010, agencies
have purchased nearly 725,000 gallons of E85, compared to about 73,000
gallons over the same period in 2005.
Seven-month State
Capitol dome repair project begins
June 10, 2010 - Work is beginning on a $4 million, seven-month project to repair the State
Capitol dome. The repairs will reduce the amount of water entering the dome
from the outside, improve drainage and ventilation in the dome, and shore up
vertical steel supports in the inner dome.
State surplus auction
customers can now register, get bidder cards early online
April 12, 2010 - State surplus auction customers can now register
and get a bidding card online in minutes, up to 10 days before an event,
rather than having to stand in a long line at the auction. The only
requirements are a computer with an internet connection and a printer;
simple instructions are on the Surplus Services website,
www.fss.state.mn.us, then click on the 'Auctions' link.
